PHHS Orientation Info for Freshman, New, and Returning Students

Parents/Guardians:

 

The 2022-2023 school year is fast approaching!  Here is all you need to know for a great start to the school year.

Orientation for 9th grade and new students only is on July 28th from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Parents will drop off/pick up students using the drop off/pick up map link.

At 9th grade and new student orientation, there will be an optional Parent Meet and Greet with counseling in the foyer of the auditorium at 9 am for parents. Parents may choose to shadow their students for the student activities to follow. The student activities are centered around students building connections with their peers and acclimating to the campus. We encourage families to attend Curriculum Night on August 17th.

Returning 10th through 12th-grade students must pick up Chromebooks and have ID pictures taken between the hours of 12:00 & 3:00 pm.  Every student at Paradise Honors High School is required to have a school issued Chromebook. Lockdown browser features through GoGuardian and Formative are utilized by teachers to secure tests and manage classroom behavior. These features are only available on school issued Chromebooks, thus all students are required to check one out. This is not optional and there is no longer a BYOD network.

If 9th graders or new students are unable to attend orientation, they can pick up their schedule from counseling on the first day of school. Schedules will be available on PowerSchool beginning the day of orientation.

IDs: ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO DISPLAY IDs AROUND THEIR NECK WHILE ON CAMPUS.

Chromebooks: All students (9th through 12th grade) are required to check out a school-issued Chromebook. Chromebooks will be available for check-out during orientation for freshman and new students and during the ID picture time for returning 10th through 12th grade.  

Please complete the Chromebook Agreement (link here) form prior to orientation.

Schedules: Hard copies will be available for pick up during orientation. They will also be available via PowerSchool on July 28th.

School Fees: Will be assessed after schedules are released and can be paid online via eFunds. All fees are due by August 26, 2022.  Information is attached on how to create an account and the payment process link here.

PE Uniforms: PE uniforms are required for all PE, Weight Training and Sports for Life classes and can be purchased via eFunds or bring cash, check or credit card and picked up in the front office when school starts or during orientation.  The cost is $35 for two shirts and two pairs of shorts.

School Supplies: The following supplies are recommended for each student:

  • Pen/Pencil
  • Paper
  • Highlighter
  • Colored pencils
  • Notecards
  • Backpack or bag to hold supplies and school issued Chromebook 

Additional limited materials needed for classes will be on the teacher’s websites and syllabi and will be reviewed by teachers during class.
