Statement in Response to School Shooting

Dear Paradise Families,

Yesterday, we were shocked to learn about the terrible loss of life in the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. It is heartbreaking to imagine what those families, school staff, and the entire Uvalde community are going through. Our school community mourns alongside those in Uvalde as they struggle to deal with these horrific losses.

As the news about yesterday’s events continues to come out, school safety will be an essential topic of discussion. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. As we learn more about yesterday’s horrific act of violence, we naturally think about our preparedness for such an event here at home. The leadership team meets regularly to review and discuss our safety plans. We are always preparing for events we hope never happen. We are grateful for our close relationship with all of our first responders, and for their guidance and support in these efforts. In addition to this support at school, they have provided links to several resources at the bottom of this letter about how to support your child at home after tragedies such as these. These resources give guidance on answering questions, providing reassurance, and navigating difficult emotions.

It is natural for children to feel or express fear or confusion as they learn about this horrible situation. Please know that our school counselors are available to assist and provide support for students who may have concerns.

As you hug your children a little longer tonight, please know we are here for you and your children in a world of uncertainty. We are dedicated to working together to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our schools. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Uvalde community. Thank you for your continued support of Paradise Schools.

Sincerely,

Paradise Schools

Leadership Team
